Go to Nature to Find Peace

Entitled “Zen Luke,” this photo captures the only time our almost-7-year-old grandson Luke was quiet on a recent visit.  That’s what nature inspires…peace. Background sculpture was recently featured in another Biddy Bytes post, a mainstay in the Grove Park Inn gardens…

“Walk away quietly in any direction and taste the freedom of the mountaineer. Camp out among the grasses and gentians of glacial meadows, in craggy garden nooks full of nature’s darlings. Climb the mountains and get their good tidings, Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. As age comes on, one source of enjoyment after another is closed, but nature’s sources never fail.”

John Muir (1838 – 1914

I especially like that last line:  “As age comes on, one source of enjoyment after another is closed, but nature’s sources never fail.”

And now, in a similar vein, here’s Dan Evanhomer’s wonderful quote on a ceramic plaque, encouraging all to go after what’s truly important in life (Click on the plaque to enlarge):  I love the message that ‘we are the ones we’ve been waiting for.’
